Sandra RowneyPainterArtist’s Statement I paint built environments; the alleyways and passages of the town and city, the gaps between buildings old and new, the monuments and towers. The ordinary becomes a stage set as the scene is distorted for dramatic effect. The sky is the backdrop that can stretch right down into the bottom of a painting. I play with colour, capturing the bustle as cars roll by, cyclists weave through the traffic and people wander past. CV I am working on a collection of paintings in 2009 based on the landscape of the city and have exhibited the first of these in Rouen, France, in May. I have a Masters Degree in Art, Design and Education from the Norwich School of Art and Design. I help with scenery and props at the Maddermarket Theatre in Norwich and co-designed the 2008 Christmas production. The works shown are all 80cm x 30cm, acrylic on canvas.
