Artist's Statement

I find myself captivated by the ability of simple stitches to create visual and textural impact and work both by hand and machine. I prefer to colour my own cloth or papers using various agents including dyes and acrylics. Where possible I source vintage or discarded fabric, threads and embellishments to re-imagine and re-purpose.

I work intuitively, influenced largely by my surroundings. Organic, natural forms are a favoured conceptual source.

I have exhibited throughout Norfolk and have participated annually in the Norfolk and Norwich Open Studios scheme. Alongside my membership of West Norfolk Artists Association, I am a founder member of mixed media collaborative, ‘Links & Layers’.

Recent Exhibitions Include

Links & Layers ‘Summer Exhibition’ Pensthorpe Natural Park, June 2019
‘Textiles In Action’, Thornham Village Hall, May 2019
Summer Exhibition, Old Workshop Gallery, Corpusty, August 2018
WNAA Summer Exhibition, St. Nicholas Chapel, Kings Lynn, 2018
‘Cohesion’ Salthouse Church, Salthouse, Norfolk, July 2018

As well as my teaching qualifications I hold an Open University B.A. degree and a City and Guilds Diploma in stitched textiles. Further examples of work can be seen on my website.
