Chloe Asprey - Painter / Photographer / Bijoutière

Ever since childhood, cameras and paints have always been close by as I am continually fascinated by the play of light and shadow. A love affair with the sun, ruins, peeling paint and pastel shades combined with deep terracotta led me to serve two apprenticeships with a painter and a photographer whilst living in Rome. Later the beautiful, dramatic light and landscape of Norfolk deepened my passion for photography.

Many years after living in Rome, I was taught, deeply inspired and challenged by Aboriginal, Native American and Berber elders to integrate my artwork and photography into my practice as a psychotherapist, teacher, storyteller, maker of things….

It is still exciting to see my work used as illustrations, book covers and a while ago throughout the 2004 International Conference on Organisational Spirituality.

Since spending more time in France and seeing tools and machinery lying around everywhere in my village, I have loved handling tools and have spent more time doing drypoints and linocuts as well as making jewellery.

Teaching and the exchange of experiences are a very important part of my life and I enjoy running workshops on every aspect of creativity and also work as a coach to fellow artists.

Norfolk is still my muse and I will be returning more permanently in 2007after a pause in France to write and be stretched…..
